Happy Birthday, Shaye Garrigan! I haven’t made a specialty cake in awhile and not since my sister had class birthday parties have I made one for her. Mom and I used to stay up until 3-4am making awesome character cupcakes for her class.
I finally feel like I have a suitable kitchen and tools to make them, so I decided to go all out for her 23rd. I think this ended up taking me around 7 hours between time spent to buy supplies, bake, and decorate (not including cooling time), and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. This was my 2nd attempt at fondant (never again will I try marshmallow fondant), which came out a little sticky/flimsy. It did the trick though, and I think I have learned how to improve it the next time around.
